It's time once again to send the kids back to school. And, while most parents seem to be excited to send their kids off into the new year, they're worried too. With so many school shootings in recent months, sales of bulletproof backpacks are up.

Guard Dog Security, a company that makes backpacks meant to protect against shotgun and handgun bullets, says that sales have increased this summer because parents are thinking proactively, trying to send their children to school with built-in protection.

It breaks my heart seeing this become something that parents feel their kids will need, but I can understand their fears. It's been a scary year, and kids should be able to feel safe in their place of learning. Guard Dog has partnered with several online retailers, so now you can find their bags at Walmart.com and Amazon. Home Depot even carries one model of the bag in stores.
