One of the perks of living in the Quad Cities is having a top-notch airport that connects you to five major airline hubs.

But, a recent report says that the number of people driving to Chicago airports to fly rather than using Quad City Airport rose from 19% to 31% over the past 7 years.

Airport director Bruce Carter was quoted as saying the issue for many folks is fare price, and the loss of low-cost carrier AirTran.

I'm on my way out of town next week, and despite the difference in fare between Chicago and MLI departures, once you figure in the time driving to O'Hare or Midway, plus any cost, parking, etc. it still seems more sensible to utilize the great airport we have here.

If anything could improve the experience, it would be making sure the connecting flights in and out of MLI arrive and depart on time.

What do you think? When you travel, would you rather fly from Moline, or drive to Chicago to fly? Sound off in the comments.
