In 6th grade, I was hell bent on making the football team, but I knew I was small, so I thought I could at least be the kicker. I practiced for weeks and when tryout day came, the wind blew dust in my eyes just as I was kicking and I bounced the ball across the turf.

Your chance for gridiron glory could be this September when the Quad City Steamwheelers hold open tryouts for their return season.

The session will be held on Sunday, September 9th at the Ambrose Dome on North Brady Street between 10:00am and 12:00pm.

You must register in advance. Advance registration is $50. If you wait to register at the door, the cost is $70.

Thankfully the tryouts are indoors, so no worries about wind or dust.  Good luck.
