One of my favorite Halloween traditions goes all the way back to when I was a kid. My grandpa would spend Halloween in front of a radio listening to a broadcast and I could never figure out why every year it was the same.

He was listening to "War of the Worlds." It's a story by H.G. Wells written in 1898, performed in 1938 by Orson Welles, and originally aired October 30th, 1938. It was a story where aliens invaded New Jersey and caused mass hysteria with listeners with simulated news bulletins.

Now, I'm not THAT old. Grandpa had it on a record. Those were big black discs that had music on it.

I don't know what happened to grandpas record album when he passed, but I found a copy on CD, and I listen to it every Halloween. If I don't listen to it, I watch 2005 movie with Tom Cruise.

The radio broadcast is WAY better. Listen to it and just close your eyes.
